Spring Trends 101 – Color Blocking

With only 18 days until Spring, warmer weather is very near. One trend that tends to resurface year after year is color blocking.

Color Blocking is taking bold opposites and pairing them together to make the wildest contrast possible. It’s unique and can be very versatile. We’ve seen stripes and polka dots, gingham and solids and even a dark solid with a bright solid. Color blocking is not only trendy, but one is able to create their own style identity that can set the tone for any outfit. Check out my uniquely designed color block dresses below. Available via my online store http://www.skyunikues.com

Stretch Marks and Bikini’s…

Beach wear season is near! Which means the time to pull out the swimsuits has arrived. For Florida natives such as myself, weekend beach getaways are the norm. But if you’re a mother like me or had unexpected weight gain/loss, you may have visible stretch marks (like me again) that have left you thinking twice about rocking a bikini. Well, I am hear to kindly tell you…NO ONE IS LOOKING AT YOUR STRETCH MARKS!

However, if you are still self conscious about your body image, I have hand selected one piece swimsuits that are not only unique in style, but also cover the stretch marks that you swear are scaring the little children on the beach building their sand castle. Click below to purchase and you will be Sports Illustrated ready. Don’t forget to post a picture of you in our swimwear. We’d love to see you!  Happy Shopping!!

Your Favorite 2014 Fall Color

So, 2014 is over and it’s time to reminisce on the many fashion trends that keep up interested throughout the past year. This fall/winter had many shockingly unusual colors on the Panton fashion color report. One would definitely see spring rather than fall, but it goes to show how fashion makes it own rules.

pantone fall 2014

What was your favorite Winter 2014 color? My absolute favorite was and still is Cobalt Blue. This color is very bold and makes a powerful fashion statement. A conservative fashionista would pair it with black while others will push their creativity and match it w/ an array of bright colors.

Check out the cobalt blue apparel available online at www.skyunikues.com. All in stock items are 25% off for a limited time!

The Evolution of the Duster

When I think of a duster, the first thing that comes to mind is the loose fitted, light weight, long sleeve garment that women wear over their clothes. For those who are not too keen on fashion, they think of the household cleaning tool. That’s not what I’m talking about!

Did you know the origin of the duster dates back to the 1800’s? At that time, it was a full length coat (which we now know as the trench) worn by horsemen. The purpose of the earlier duster was to prevent trail dust from ruining the garments or the horsemen, hence the name (see below).

My, have things changed. Today, you can find the newly designed duster in nearly any womens’ apparel shop. They are light weight, comfortable and perfect for the cool fall mornings. They can be worn business casual or with a weekend casual look in jeans. Isn’t it wonderful when we fashionista’s make something old new again?!  Oh! Don’t forget to ALWAYS accent your duster with a solid piece of statement jewelry. Check out our accessorized piece below.

Wearing a maxi dress in Winter?

maxi dress winter style

1. WITH A CARDI

I know this sounds obvious, but the easiest way to convert a summer maxi into a fall outfit would be to add a cute cardigan. Choose from cropped, drapey, fitted, or long, depending on which looks best with the particular maxi dress. This is the easiest way to go from chilly to cozy in a maxi dress!

2. WITH A THERMAL UNDERNEATH

I have a super-cute tank-style maxi dress from summer that I love wearing in the fall with a floral-print thermal underneath. Get creative! You don’t have to opt for a thermal that matches the maxi, just one that compliments it!

3. WITH A BLAZER

I have an empire-waist maxi with a tiny floral print that looks smashing with my cropped, fitted velvet blazer… I know it sounds odd, but it looks darling! Try your blazers or denim jackets with your maxis… you might be surprised at…
